Surgery Waiting Room volunteers provide timely and friendly assistance to patients, patient families, and guests in need of directions/escort to and from the waiting area, assist with unit coordinator tasks as requested, and provide activities to patients and families while they wait.
Surgery Services volunteers support staff, patients, and patient families in the post-anesthesia care unit by assisting in infection prevention measures as well as offering supplies such as popsicles, juice, crackers, and warm blankets to patients when they get out of surgery.
Ambulatory Surgery Center volunteers support staff, patients, and families by preparing rooms, assisting with post-surgery wheelchair walkouts, and supporting other needs in the area.
Center for Cancer and Blood Disorder (CCBD) Day Hospital volunteers provide support to the Child Life and CCBD staff members by engaging patients in developmentally appropriate activities during outpatient treatment in the Day Hospital.
Emergency Department volunteers provide support and comfort to ED families by distributing blankets, snacks, activities, etc., providing directions, offering parents a break by keeping patients company as needed, and helping ensure the experience is as positive as possible.
Dialysis Unit volunteers provide support to Child Life and Nephrology teams by engaging patients in developmentally appropriate activities both in Hemodialysis and Peritoneal Dialysis clinics.
Library and Tutor volunteers work with Family Resource Library and School Services staff members to bring these services to the hospital. Library volunteers assist patients, families, and visitors with locating health or leisure reading materials. Tutor volunteers assist school-age children with schoolwork and other educational projects.
Spiritual Care volunteers assist staff in providing family-centered support, encouragement, and hospitality.
Gaming Pal volunteers work with Child Life staff members and offer 1-on-1 video game play opportunities to patients in their rooms.
Patient Pal volunteers provide companionship and play opportunities to patients of all ages while the parent or guardian is unable to be in the room with them.
